Admissions
How to join a programme at the Irshad Centre — entry requirements, the application process, tuition, and financial aid.
Entry requirements
Prospective applicants should be fluent in written and spoken English, proficient in reading the Arabic script, and no younger than 18 years old. Individual programmes may set further requirements, which are listed on each programme page.
What to submit
- The online application form
- A personal statement of no more than 400 words
- One reference from a religious teacher
- Proof of English language ability, for overseas applicants whose first language is not English
- A digital copy of an academic certificate, where applicable
How admission works
- You applySubmit the form, your personal statement, and your reference.
- We review and respond by emailApproved applicants are asked to pay a non-refundable application fee of £25.
- A short online interviewAn informal conversation about your background and what you hope to study.
- Your offerSuccessful candidates receive an acceptance letter with instructions for paying tuition and securing a place.
Applicants are enrolled first-come, first-served and places are limited, so we recommend applying as early as possible.
Tuition and fees
Tuition may be paid in full before the course begins, or in monthly instalments. Both options are shown on each programme page, and give the same access.
Once a student has been admitted onto a course, no part of the tuition fee is refundable. Students forced to withdraw because of ill health or other compassionate grounds are considered case by case.
Scholarships and bursaries
A limited number of awards are made each year, ranging from partial to full scholarship. Apply for financial aid through the application form — there is no separate process.
Studying at the Centre
Programmes are taught online unless stated otherwise, and students are strongly encouraged to travel to the annual intensives in the United Kingdom or the United States.
Class sizes are usually restricted, so that discussion is possible and camaraderie develops between participants. Breaks are scheduled in Ramadan and over the summer and winter.
Students are expected to uphold proper Islamic decorum, as per the prophetic sunna, as well as the proper etiquettes of a student of sacred, revelatory knowledge, both publicly and privately.
Students who complete the requirements of a full programme of study, and who demonstrate maturity and leadership qualities, precise learning, and gracious character, receive certification from the Irshad Centre for Hanafi Studies.
